I’m not much of a breakfast person. Never have been, but in recent years I got more the habit of eating something if I plan to be active in some form in the first half of the day outside of office work. So, breakfast has become more of a thing for me and thanks to my wife, also the realisation that Gothenburg basically has no breakfast places. Just not a thing. So it comes as a positive surprise when a new place opens for specifically that purpose. Well in this case, a Stockholm-based chain. Let’s have some breakfast at BodyBuddy!
With it’s location right in the newly developed Highrise near Masthuggskajen, the area is still pretty rough. Finding the entrance is not easy, it’s right between construction sites and construction site parking. I guess they opened before the people moved in nearby. But that doesn’t seem to stop people from coming, so that’s a good sign!
The insides look like your typical metropolitan breakfast place. Nice, classy, but also in a way soulless, as this could be anywhere in the world. But I don’t mind. The menu is a bit more interesting with a large offering of vegan goods.
Ranging from Bowls, to your Avocado Toast (here on Knäcke), to some Oats and Chia puddings. It’s your metropolitan breakfast, alright!
We went for the Avocado on Knäcke, Berry Boost Smoothie Bowl and some Snickers cake and Pastry ball. A little feast, of course.
And what can I say? It looks fantastic and the quality of the ingredients is really high. You can tell by the mountain of fruits in the bowl or the beautiful avocado on the very classy Knäcke. Money is in the ingredients and I am happy to pay for that. It comes as a surprise that the prices for the food are rather low then, with the Avocado knäcke around 99 SEK, and the Bowl around 139 SEK. That’s not much to ask for it.
Not much more to say. It’s a great breakfast place in all honesty. It’s affordable, has plenty of vegan options, the quality is high and it’s spacious, so you will likely find a spot.

The Verdict
The Stockholm-based chain BodyBuddy made it’s entrance in Gothenburg. Located still around a construction area, the insides are what matters. When you look past the metropolitan look, you can find plenty of great vegan options such as Smoothie Bowls, Avocado Knäcke, Oats, Porridge and more. And on top of that also plenty of fully vegan sweets. It’s a little breakfast paradise. The quality of the ingredients is top notch and all that while the price-point is rather affordable. Only downside is that it’s not open on Sundays for a lazy breakfast, but it is what it is.
Highly recommended for some breakfast. There are just not many of those places around and if you get such high quality as from BodyBuddy, it makes all the difference.
