Omami Linnégatan

4/5

On a street like Linnégatan, where restaurants compete heavily for attention, Omami takes a slightly different approach. It’s not really trying to be a full sit-down restaurant, but instead is a simple spot with some 2-4 seats for indoor seating. Here, takeaway is the intention.

The setup makes that clear straight away. It’s essentially a container with a couple of tables squeezed in, and everything from the layout to the paper packaging is telling you that this is food meant to be eaten on the go. You can sit down, but it never really feels like the intention. You will feel a bit crambed and surrounded by paper packaging.

The menu is a mix of Asian staples like edamame, bún chay, and bao buns, not super tied to any specific cuisine, more of a ‘pick what works’ approach. It’s familiar, but that also makes it easy. The tofu is mostly deep fried, which could easily feel lazy, but actually works here. It’s quite crispy, flavourful, and consistently the strongest part. Portions are on the smaller side, so the bun chay is mostly going to leave you hungry, but prices are fair enough that it balances out without feeling cheap or overpriced.

This isn’t somewhere you plan an evening around, and it doesn’t seem like that’s their intention. They focus heavily on take-away and deliveries via foodora. But as a quick stop for vegan Asian food, it does exactly what it needs to, a snack on the go without much buzz.

The Verdict

Omami on Linnégatan is more of a takeaway spot than a restaurant, with just a couple of indoor seats and everything served in paper packaging. It really feels like food made for eating on the go. The menu is a mix of Asian-inspired staples like edamame, bún chay, and bao buns. Portions are on the smaller side, but prices are fair, so it balances out. The deep-fried tofu is definitely one of the comforting highlights.

Not a place you’d go to for a sit-down dinner, but a solid option if you’re after a quick vegan Asian fix.
